About the role

Are you an Ecologist looking to build your career in the Highlands, working on varied projects across Scotland while developing your protected species, habitat survey and reporting experience?

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is supporting a well-established multidisciplinary environmental and engineering consultancy as it continues to grow its ecology capability in Inverness.

You will join a supportive and developing Ecology team, working alongside another Ecologist in Inverness as well as experienced environmental specialists across the wider business. It is a great opportunity for an Ecologist or Senior Ecologist who wants variety, responsibility and a clear route for progression.

The role

Your work will include:

  • Phase 1 habitat and wider ecological surveys

  • Protected species surveys and monitoring

  • PEAs, EcIAs, HRAs and ecological reporting

  • Species Protection Plans and mitigation strategies

  • Ecological Clerk of Works duties

  • Supporting projects across a range of Scottish habitats

  • Working collaboratively with environmental and engineering colleagues

  • Liaising with clients and other project stakeholders

As you develop, there will be opportunities to take on greater responsibility for project management, technical delivery and mentoring junior colleagues.

What are they looking for?

You will ideally have a degree in Ecology or a related discipline and professional experience within ecology, preferably gained within consultancy.

You should have experience of ecological field surveys and report writing, alongside a genuine interest in developing your career within a growing team.

Protected species licences, ornithology, GIS, Biodiversity Net Gain, habitat management or upland survey experience would be advantageous, but you do not need to bring everything from day one.

A full UK driving licence is required.

Why join?

This is a particularly good opportunity if you want to be part of a growing ecology team rather than simply filling a position within a large established department. You will have the opportunity to broaden your experience, develop specialist interests and progress as the team grows.

Benefits include:

  • Tailored internal and external training

  • Professional membership subscription

  • 33 days' annual leave including public holidays, with buy and sell options

  • Volunteering day

  • Flexible parental leave

  • Employee Assistance Programme

  • Cycle to Work scheme

  • Electric vehicle scheme

Interested?

Whether you are an Ecologist ready for your next step or already operating at Senior level, we would be pleased to hear from you.
