Terms and Conditions

Version 1.0
Effective from 1 September 2026

1. About these Terms

These Terms and Conditions govern the use of Environment.jobs and the services made available through it.

Environment.jobs is a specialist environmental jobs platform operated by Daniel Howarth, a sole trader trading as Environment.jobs.

References in these Terms to “Environment.jobs”, “we”, “us” or “our” mean Daniel Howarth trading as Environment.jobs.

References to “you” or “your” mean the person or organisation using Environment.jobs.

By using Environment.jobs you agree to comply with these Terms.

Additional terms apply to organisations participating in the Founding Employer Launch Programme.

Paid job advertising is provided for business and organisational recruitment purposes. A person purchasing advertising confirms that they are acting on behalf of a business, charity, public body, recruitment agency or other organisation and are authorised to do so.

Nothing in these Terms removes any rights which applicable law does not permit us to exclude.

2. What Environment.jobs does

Environment.jobs provides an online platform which helps candidates discover environmental, sustainability and related vacancies and enables employers and recruitment agencies to advertise vacancies.

Environment.jobs is a job advertising platform.

We are not:

  • the employer in relation to third-party vacancies;
  • a recruitment agency acting for candidates;
  • the hiring organisation;
  • an applicant tracking system.

Candidates normally apply through an external website or application route selected by the advertiser.

Environment.jobs does not currently receive or store CVs, cover letters or completed job applications and does not operate a public candidate CV database.

3. Candidate use

Candidates may browse vacancies and, where available, use account features including:

  • saving jobs;
  • following employers;
  • managing email preferences;
  • other candidate features made available by Environment.jobs.

Candidates are responsible for deciding whether a vacancy or organisation is suitable for them.

Environment.jobs does not guarantee:

  • that a vacancy remains available;
  • that information supplied by an advertiser is error-free;
  • an interview;
  • a response from an employer;
  • employment;
  • any particular recruitment outcome.

Candidates should review the employer or recruiter's own information and privacy policy before submitting an application externally.

4. Employer accounts

Employer accounts are intended for organisations recruiting employees, workers, contractors, apprentices, interns or volunteers and for legitimate recruitment agencies acting on behalf of clients.

A person creating or using an Employer account must have authority to act for the organisation represented.

Account details must be accurate.

You are responsible for:

  • safeguarding your login credentials;
  • maintaining accurate account information;
  • activity carried out through your account.

You should contact Environment.jobs promptly if you believe an account has been accessed without authority.

5. Job adverts

An advertiser must have authority to advertise every vacancy it submits.

Job adverts must relate to genuine recruitment opportunities.

Advertisers are responsible for ensuring that advert information is accurate, lawful and not misleading.

This includes, where applicable:

  • job title;
  • employer or hiring organisation;
  • location;
  • workplace arrangements;
  • employment type;
  • working pattern;
  • career level;
  • salary;
  • closing date;
  • job description;
  • application URL;
  • contact information.

Advertisers must keep information reasonably up to date.

6. Lawful and fair recruitment advertising

Job adverts must comply with applicable law.

You must not knowingly submit content that is:

  • unlawfully discriminatory;
  • fraudulent;
  • materially misleading;
  • defamatory;
  • illegal;
  • deceptive;
  • unrelated to a genuine vacancy;
  • designed primarily to collect personal information for an unrelated purpose.

Environment.jobs may request changes or evidence before accepting an advert.

Moderation by Environment.jobs does not transfer legal responsibility for an advert away from the advertiser.

7. Recruitment agencies

Recruitment agencies may advertise genuine vacancies on behalf of clients.

Where the posting flow identifies an advert as an agency posting, the recruitment agency remains the Environment.jobs account holder and commercial customer.

The agency retains ownership of:

  • the Environment.jobs advert;
  • the advertising purchase;
  • commercial entitlements;
  • associated account activity.

The hiring client's name is informational and does not transfer ownership of the advert or entitlement.

Where displayed publicly, Environment.jobs may identify an agency advert using wording such as “Recruiting on behalf of: [client organisation]”.

Agencies must have authority to advertise the relevant vacancy.

8. Moderation and approval

Submitting or paying for an advert does not automatically publish it.

Job adverts may be reviewed by Environment.jobs before publication.

Environment.jobs may:

  • approve an advert;
  • request amendments;
  • reject an advert;
  • temporarily hide an advert;
  • remove an advert;

where reasonably necessary to protect candidates, advertisers, the platform or the integrity of the service.

A paid advert normally follows this process: Draft → Payment → Pending review → Admin approval → Live.

Payment alone does not guarantee approval.

9. Advert start dates, closing dates and duration

Standard and Featured adverts may run for up to 42 days.

The actual live period may be shorter where:

  • an employer selects an earlier closing date;
  • the vacancy is closed or withdrawn;
  • the advert is removed under these Terms.

Advertisers may select a future start date where that facility is available.

The closing date must comply with the posting rules displayed when the advert is created.

10. Standard Listings

The current public Standard Listing price is £149 per advert.

The current package is described on the Environment.jobs Plans & Pricing page.

A Standard Listing does not receive the enhanced public presentation or priority associated with a Featured Placement.

Environment.jobs may change the Standard Listing price for future purchases.

A later price change does not retrospectively change a completed transaction.

11. Featured Placements

The current public Featured Placement price is £199 per advert.

A Featured Placement receives enhanced prominence within relevant Environment.jobs results and pages.

This may include:

  • Featured styling;
  • a Featured badge;
  • priority above equivalent Standard listings in default/recommended results;
  • enhanced visibility on relevant sector or promotional areas.

Featured status does NOT:

  • bypass candidate search filters;
  • make an irrelevant advert appear for an unrelated search;
  • override every explicit candidate sort option;
  • guarantee the first position;
  • guarantee a particular number of views;
  • guarantee applications;
  • guarantee interviews;
  • guarantee a successful hire.

A Featured Placement remains subject to normal moderation.

12. Founding Employer Launch Programme

Approved Founding Employers receive the benefits set out in the separate Founding Employer Launch Programme Terms.

Those Terms form part of the contractual relationship where applicable.

If there is a conflict about a Founding Employer-specific benefit, the Founding Employer Launch Programme Terms take precedence in relation to that specific benefit.

13. Agency and volume hiring plans

Environment.jobs may offer tailored advertising packages for recruitment agencies, larger organisations and high-volume recruiters.

Pricing shown as “From £899” is indicative of the starting point for tailored volume plans and does not mean every volume package costs £899.

The exact price, number of adverts, duration, Featured upgrades and services will be agreed in the applicable quote or order.

Unless otherwise agreed, a tailored written order forms part of these Terms.

14. Prices and payment

All prices are shown in pounds sterling unless stated otherwise.

The applicable amount is shown before checkout.

Environment.jobs determines the price payable according to the advertiser's current entitlement.

The customer cannot determine or alter the authoritative price through browser-side changes.

Paid transactions are processed by Stripe.

Environment.jobs does not store full payment-card details.

A payment is only treated as completed once it has been successfully verified through the payment system.

Reaching a browser success page alone is not evidence of payment.

Job advertising purchases are one-time purchases unless expressly agreed otherwise.

Environment.jobs does not currently operate automatic recurring subscriptions for individual Standard or Featured adverts.

There is no automatic paid renewal simply because an advert expires.

15. VAT and taxes

The total amount payable will be shown before payment.

Where VAT or another tax is legally required to be charged, that amount will be identified as part of the applicable transaction.

16. Cancellation before payment

Starting an advert or saving a draft does not create a paid purchase.

If a customer cancels or leaves Stripe checkout before successful payment:

  • the advert remains unpaid;
  • no paid advertising entitlement is granted;
  • the advert does not enter moderation as a paid advert;
  • the customer may normally return and retry.

17. Refunds and advertising credits

Environment.jobs aims to deal fairly with paid advertising disputes.

If Environment.jobs declines an otherwise compliant paid advert before publication for reasons unrelated to a breach by the advertiser, the advertiser will normally be offered an appropriate refund or equivalent advertising credit.

There is no automatic entitlement to a refund where an advert is rejected or removed because it:

  • breaches these Terms;
  • is unlawful;
  • is materially misleading;
  • is fraudulent;
  • is unlawfully discriminatory;
  • infringes another person's rights;
  • is not a genuine vacancy.

Once an advert has been published, a refund is not normally provided merely because:

  • the vacancy is filled early;
  • recruitment plans change;
  • the advertiser voluntarily withdraws the vacancy;
  • the vacancy receives fewer views than hoped;
  • the vacancy receives few or no applications;
  • no suitable candidate applies;
  • no appointment is made.

If Environment.jobs materially fails to provide a paid advertising service because of a fault attributable to Environment.jobs, we may provide an appropriate re-run, replacement advertising credit, partial refund or full refund depending on the circumstances.

Duplicate or erroneous charges will be corrected.

Nothing in this section limits rights which cannot legally be excluded.

18. Chargebacks and reversed payments

If a payment is reversed, charged back or found to have been made fraudulently, Environment.jobs may suspend the associated paid entitlement while the transaction is investigated.

This does not prevent a customer from raising a genuine payment dispute.

19. Editing adverts

Advertisers may edit adverts where the platform permits.

Environment.jobs may require substantial changes to be reviewed again.

Editing must not be used to obtain a different advertising product without the relevant entitlement.

For example, a paid Standard Listing must not be converted into a Featured Placement without the required Featured entitlement or payment.

20. Employer Profiles and Employers Directory

Employers may create an Employer Profile.

Creating an Employer Profile does not automatically publish it in the public Employers Directory.

Profile publication remains subject to the Environment.jobs profile workflow and moderation rules.

Environment.jobs may decline, hide or remove profile content that is misleading, unlawful or breaches these Terms.

A public job advert may use basic canonical employer information such as organisation name, website and logo even where the full Employer Profile has not been made publicly visible in the Employers Directory.

21. Listing analytics

Environment.jobs may provide advertisers with aggregate advert-performance information such as:

  • job-page views;
  • outbound Apply-button clicks.

An Apply click means a user selected the external application link.

It does NOT mean that Environment.jobs knows whether that person subsequently completed an application.

22. Search engines and Google Jobs

Environment.jobs may use structured data, sitemaps, internal links and search-engine submission tools to help public vacancies become discoverable through third-party search services.

Environment.jobs does not control Google or other search engines.

We cannot guarantee:

  • indexing;
  • ranking;
  • Google Jobs inclusion;
  • search visibility;
  • timing of removal from third-party search results.

23. Weekly Environmental Jobs Email and promotion

Environment.jobs may promote vacancies through:

  • the Weekly Environmental Jobs Email;
  • social-media accounts;
  • relevant platform promotional areas;
  • other Environment.jobs marketing channels.

Where a package refers to inclusion or priority inclusion, exact timing and placement may depend on newsletter schedules, relevance, available space, advert closing date and editorial considerations.

Founding Employer priority does not mean that every vacancy is guaranteed a place in every edition.

24. External application websites

Environment.jobs may direct candidates to an employer website, recruitment agency website, applicant tracking system or another external application service.

Environment.jobs does not control those services.

The external organisation is responsible for its application process, availability, privacy practices and information submitted directly to it.

25. Employer content and licence

Advertisers retain ownership of material they lawfully own.

By uploading or submitting job advert text, logos, Employer Profile content, images, organisation descriptions or other promotional content, the advertiser grants Environment.jobs a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, format, display and promote that material as reasonably necessary to provide Environment.jobs and promote the relevant vacancy.

The advertiser confirms that it has sufficient rights to provide the material.

26. Environment.jobs intellectual property

The Environment.jobs platform, design, branding, software and original content are protected by applicable intellectual-property rights.

You may not reproduce, scrape, republish, sell or commercially exploit protected Environment.jobs content or functionality without permission, except where permitted by law.

27. Prohibited use

You must not:

  • post fake vacancies;
  • impersonate another organisation;
  • attempt unauthorised access;
  • interfere with security;
  • introduce malware;
  • harvest protected personal information unlawfully;
  • scrape the site in breach of these Terms or applicable law;
  • misuse contact information;
  • resell advertising entitlements without permission;
  • use Environment.jobs for unlawful activity;
  • attempt to manipulate payment or advertising-entitlement systems.

28. Availability

We aim to keep Environment.jobs available and reliable.

We cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability.

Access may occasionally be affected by maintenance, security work, hosting failures, third-party service failures, internet outages or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

29. Suspension and termination

Environment.jobs may restrict, suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary because of:

  • serious or repeated breach of these Terms;
  • fraud;
  • attempted payment manipulation;
  • security risks;
  • unlawful conduct;
  • misleading advertising;
  • non-payment;
  • misuse of the platform.

Where reasonably appropriate, we will attempt to contact the account holder.

30. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

In particular, nothing excludes or limits liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by negligence where such liability cannot legally be excluded;
  • fraud;
  • fraudulent misrepresentation;
  • any other liability that applicable law does not permit us to exclude or restrict.

Environment.jobs is not responsible for employment decisions made by candidates, employers or recruitment agencies.

We do not guarantee:

  • job applications;
  • candidate quality;
  • interviews;
  • appointments;
  • hires;
  • candidate responses;
  • search-engine ranking;
  • a particular level of website traffic.

For business customers, and subject to the exclusions above, Environment.jobs will not be liable for indirect or consequential loss or for loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity, anticipated savings or goodwill to the extent such loss may lawfully be excluded.

Subject to liability which cannot lawfully be limited, Environment.jobs' aggregate liability to a business customer arising out of paid advertising services in any 12-month period will not exceed the total fees paid by that customer to Environment.jobs for paid advertising services during that 12-month period.

Nothing in this clause affects mandatory legal rights.

31. Claims caused by advertiser content

Where a third party brings a claim directly against Environment.jobs because material supplied by an advertiser infringes third-party rights, is unlawful, is fraudulent or materially breaches these Terms, the advertiser will be responsible for reasonable losses and costs to the extent directly caused by its breach, subject to applicable law.

32. Privacy and data protection

Use of personal information by Environment.jobs is explained in the Environment.jobs Privacy Policy.

Employers and recruitment agencies remain responsible for their own compliance with data-protection law when candidates submit applications directly to them or to an application system they control.

33. Changes to these Terms

Environment.jobs may update these Terms to reflect changes in law, regulatory requirements, security, platform developments or commercial changes.

The current version and effective date will be displayed.

Changes to future pricing do not retrospectively change completed paid purchases.

Where a material change affects an existing contractual entitlement, Environment.jobs will take reasonable steps to notify affected users.

34. Operator, address and contact information

Environment.jobs is operated by Daniel Howarth, a sole trader trading as Environment.jobs.

The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rights which applicable law provides otherwise.
