Ocean to Earth Recruitment is working with a highly regarded, sustainability-focused environmental consultancy seeking a Consultant or Senior Ecologist to join its team in Bristol or South Wales.
This is an organisation with environmental responsibility at the heart of how it works. Its teams bring together ecology, landscape, planning and wider environmental expertise to help clients deliver development responsibly, restore nature and respond to some of the UK's most important sustainability and biodiversity challenges.
The opportunity
You will work across a varied portfolio of projects, with a particular focus on renewable energy generation and transmission across Wales, alongside nature restoration, biodiversity enhancement and sustainable development projects throughout South Wales and South West England.
Depending on your level, your role could include:
Designing and delivering habitat and protected species surveys
Preparing PEAs, protected species reports and Ecological Impact Assessments
Analysing and interpreting ecological data
Managing or supporting ecology projects
Working directly with clients and multidisciplinary environmental teams
Supporting and mentoring junior ecologists
Contributing to proposals, tenders and the continued development of the ecology team
You will also have opportunities to collaborate with specialists across landscape architecture, planning, arboriculture, heritage, GIS and other environmental disciplines.
What are we looking for?
You will have experience within UK ecology and a good understanding of wildlife legislation, planning and nature conservation policy. Ideally, you will also have experience of habitat and protected species surveys and producing high-quality ecological consultancy reports.
Experience within renewable energy, EcIA or environmental planning would be particularly relevant. Protected species licences, including bats, great crested newts or dormice, would be welcomed but are not essential.
A full UK driving licence is required, alongside flexibility to travel to sites across South Wales and South West England.

Hybrid working is available, typically with two days per week in the office, alongside flexible working arrangements. Part-time hours from 30 hours per week can also be considered.
