About the role

Ocean to Earth Recruitment is supporting an established environmental consultancy looking to appoint Ecologists and Senior Ecologists across several locations in central and southern England.

This is a good fit for someone who wants a varied consultancy role with a balance of fieldwork, technical reporting, project ownership and client contact, within a team that offers clear scope for progression.

The role

Depending on your level of experience, you will be involved in:

  • Delivering ecological consultancy projects from survey through to reporting and recommendations

  • Undertaking UKHab surveys and habitat condition assessments

  • Completing Biodiversity Net Gain assessments using the relevant statutory metric

  • Preparing ecological reports to support planning and development projects

  • Contributing to mitigation, enhancement and habitat management strategies

  • Supporting protected species surveys and wider fieldwork

  • Managing project programmes, budgets and workloads

  • Liaising with clients, planners and multidisciplinary project teams

At Senior level, you will take greater ownership of projects and client relationships, with opportunities to mentor less experienced colleagues and support wider team development.

What we are looking for

You will already have consultancy experience and be comfortable managing your own workload and delivering work to agreed deadlines.

Relevant experience will include:

  • UKHab surveys

  • Biodiversity Net Gain

  • Ecological report writing

  • Project or workstream management

  • Client communication

  • Working across multidisciplinary projects

Protected species licences and a CSCS card would be useful but are not essential.

A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites will be required.

Why consider this opportunity?

The consultancy offers a broad mix of work across development, land and infrastructure projects, with the opportunity to build technical depth without becoming too narrowly specialised.

You will benefit from:

  • £30,500 to £42,000 salary

  • Paid overtime and TOIL

  • Flexible and remote working

  • 24 days' annual leave, increasing with progression

  • Discretionary bonus

  • Ongoing professional development

  • Employee assistance programme

  • Clear progression into senior technical and project leadership roles

This is a particularly strong opportunity if you are looking for a role where you can continue building your technical ecology experience while taking on greater responsibility over time.
