About the role
Ocean to Earth Recruitment is working with a growing environmental consultancy looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Geo-Environmental Engineer to its Glasgow team.
Alongside the technical opportunity, this role stands out for the environment you will be joining. The consultancy has a friendly, positive team, an ambitious and driven Managing Director and a forward-thinking approach to growth and progression.
There is a strong track record of people being promoted internally, making this particularly interesting for a Senior Engineer who wants a genuine route to Principal, or a Principal looking for greater influence within a growing business.
The role
You will work across a range of geo-environmental projects, combining technical delivery with increasing responsibility for projects, clients and colleagues.
Depending on your experience, your responsibilities will include:
Designing and overseeing site investigations and environmental assessments
Preparing and reviewing technical reports
Producing and reviewing risk assessments and remediation strategies
Managing projects from initial scope through to delivery
Acting as technical lead on larger and more complex projects
Coordinating multidisciplinary input
Managing project programmes, budgets and resources
Working directly with clients and attending stakeholder meetings
Supporting proposals, project scoping and fee estimates
Reviewing risk assessments and method statements for field activities
Mentoring and supporting developing engineers
Contributing to technical knowledge sharing across the team
At Principal level, you will have greater responsibility for technical leadership, complex site investigations, project teams and maintaining high standards of project delivery.
What we're looking for
You will have established experience within geo-environmental consultancy and a relevant degree in Environmental Science, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
For Principal level, around six or more years' relevant experience is preferred, although applications are also welcomed from strong Senior Engineers ready to take their next step.
Chartered status, or progress towards Chartership, would be advantageous. A full driving licence is required.
Why consider this opportunity?
This could be a great move if you are looking for progression without the layers of a much larger consultancy.
The business is ambitious and growing, with a Managing Director who is actively driving it forward. At the same time, the culture remains friendly, collaborative and positive, giving people the opportunity to have a visible impact on the team and its future.
Internal development is taken seriously, with regular promotions across the business and opportunities to take on greater responsibility as the consultancy grows.
For a Senior Engineer, that could mean developing towards Principal through increased project leadership, technical review, mentoring and client responsibility. For an established Principal, there is the opportunity to play an influential role in the continued development of the Geo-Environmental Services team.
If you are looking for a positive, forward-thinking consultancy where you can continue developing technically while progressing your career, this opportunity is well worth exploring.
