About the role
Ocean to Earth Recruitment is working with a growing multidisciplinary environmental and engineering consultancy looking to strengthen its geotechnical team across Scotland.
Opportunities are available from Geotechnical Engineer and Senior Engineer through to Principal and Associate level, making this worth exploring whether you are looking for your next technical step or an experienced geotechnical professional seeking greater project and team responsibility.
With offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness, you will join an established team delivering geotechnical work across energy, infrastructure, development and industrial projects throughout Scotland and the wider UK.
The opportunity
The work is varied, combining technical geotechnical engineering with site investigation, assessment, design and practical support through project delivery.
Depending on your experience, you could be involved in:
Planning and delivering geotechnical investigations
Geotechnical assessment, interpretation and technical reporting
Geotechnical design and engineering solutions
Slope stability assessments
Peat surveys and assessments
Construction support and temporary works advice
Supporting major energy, infrastructure and development projects
Managing project programmes, budgets and technical quality
Working directly with clients and multidisciplinary project teams
Preparing bids and tenders
Mentoring and supporting developing engineers
At Principal and Associate level, there is greater scope to lead projects, develop client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the geotechnical team.
What we're looking for
We are interested in speaking with geotechnical professionals at different stages of their careers, so the precise level of experience will depend on the position.
You are likely to have a background in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, geology, civil engineering or a related discipline, with experience gained within consultancy, contracting or a similar technical environment.
For the more senior appointments, experience independently managing projects, reviewing technical work, supporting clients and mentoring colleagues will be particularly valuable.
Chartered status, or progress towards an appropriate professional qualification, would also be welcomed.
Why consider this opportunity?
This is an opportunity to join a growing Scottish geotechnical team with exposure to a broad mix of projects rather than being restricted to one narrow area of work.
You will work alongside environmental and engineering specialists, giving you the opportunity to see projects from different technical perspectives while continuing to build your own geotechnical expertise.
There is also genuine scope for progression. More experienced engineers can take increasing ownership of projects, clients and people, while those earlier in their careers can develop alongside established technical professionals.
The consultancy supports hybrid and flexible working, with a combination of office, home and site-based work. Some travel across Scotland and the wider UK will be required depending on projects.
If you are a Geotechnical Engineer, Senior Engineer, Principal or Associate looking for a growing consultancy where you can develop technically and take on greater responsibility as your career progresses, we'd be very happy to hear from you.
