About the role
Ocean to Earth Recruitment is working with a highly regarded environmental consultancy looking to strengthen its EIA team with an experienced Principal EIA Consultant, with scope for an Associate Director appointment in Leeds for the right person.
This is a senior opportunity for an EIA professional who enjoys bringing together environmental, design and planning disciplines on complex projects. You will work across major infrastructure, renewable energy, transport and property schemes, helping clients navigate assessment and consenting while ensuring environmental considerations influence projects from an early stage.
What you’ll be doing
You will take a lead role on multidisciplinary EIA projects, with responsibility for coordinating technical specialists and maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and project teams.
Your work will include:
Leading EIAs from initial feasibility and strategy through assessment, consenting and detailed design
Managing screening, scoping, consultation and Environmental Statement preparation
Coordinating environmental specialists, designers and external consultants
Working across DCO and Town and Country Planning consenting routes
Managing project programmes, budgets and technical deliverables
Reviewing environmental reports and maintaining high technical standards
Building trusted relationships with clients and key stakeholders
Supporting proposals, tenders and business development
Mentoring and providing technical guidance to colleagues
What we’re looking for
You will already have substantial experience within EIA and a strong understanding of UK environmental legislation, assessment and consenting.
You are likely to bring experience of leading complex multidisciplinary assessments, preparing and reviewing EIA documentation and confidently managing both clients and project teams.
Strong report writing, project management and commercial skills will be important, alongside the ability to see the wider environmental picture across major development projects.
Experience of supporting junior colleagues and contributing to bids or business development would also be valuable.
Why consider the move?
This is an opportunity to join an established, science-led environmental consultancy with a strong technical reputation and collaborative culture.
You will have exposure to significant UK projects while working alongside experienced specialists across environmental disciplines. There is genuine scope to develop your career and influence how projects are delivered, rather than simply managing the EIA process.
The package includes a competitive salary, bonus scheme, hybrid and flexible working, enhanced pension, medical cover, life assurance and wellbeing support.
Principal opportunities are available in Leeds and Bristol, with Associate Director level considered in Leeds.
